Victor Zubeldia was born in Oaxaca and trained at La Esmeralda — Mexico's national fine arts school — where his thesis explored the symbolic power of shadow in painting. He has lived in Mexico, Brazil, and the United States. He lives and works in Alameda, California.

He has been a professional artist since 1993, with solo exhibitions in Mexico and the United States. His work is based on his interest in psychology, spirituality, and the conflicting nature of human beings.
